Children's Dentistry

Nothing makes a parent happier than seeing their child’s bright, beautiful smile, and at Peak Dental Care, we’re committed to working with parents to help their little ones maintain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime.

We strive to make your child look forward to visiting our dental clinic, and we do everything we can to make it fun and welcoming.

From televisions in the treatment rooms to sedation options if your child feels anxious or has special needs, we’ll customise a treatment plan for their unique situation.

The Importance of Children’s Dentistry

It’s never too soon to begin thinking about your child’s oral health. That’s why we recommend bringing them to our clinic around their first birthday or when they get their first teeth, whichever comes first.

When your child visits the dentist from a very young age, we can check their jaw development and make sure their mouth is healthy. These early visits are also essential to helping your little one get used to dental visits. And if they don’t feel anxious about coming to see us when they’re younger, they’re more likely to continue going to the dentist when they’re adults.

As your child grows, we’ll introduce dental sealants and fluoride treatments, and if the time comes that they need a tooth-coloured filling or other treatment, we’ll provide comfortable, efficient care.

Children’s Dentistry Services in Blacktown and Beyond

Every child’s smile is unique, so we tailor their treatment to their specific needs, and we take as much time as necessary to put your mind at ease and answer all of your questions. Some of the children’s services we offer include the following:
Cleanings, Check-Ups and X-Rays
Routine preventive care is at the centre of what we do at Peak Dental Care. We recommend a clean and polish every six months to remove plaque and tartar buildup from your child’s mouth. During their check-up, we can look for any dental concerns and intervene if necessary.
Parent Education and Helpful Tips
During your child’s routine visits, we can offer helpful brushing and flossing tips and advice on healthy eating habits, thumb sucking or other oral health issues. We’re committed to helping your child understand how good hygiene habits could prevent certain dental concerns.
Developmental Guidance for All Ages
Your child’s teeth change as they develop, and we take the time to guide you and your child through every stage. So, whether they’re infants, toddlers, school-aged children or adolescents, we’re here to show them the best ways to care for their smiles.

Maintaining a Healthy Smile for a Lifetime

Preventive dental visits are essential to your child’s long-term oral health, but what you do to help them between trips to our clinic is equally important.

Here are some tips that could give your little one the best chance at a lifetime of healthy smiles:

  • Help them brush their teeth in the morning and at night, and when they’re old enough, monitor them as they’re brushing to make sure they’re thorough. Setting a two-minute timer or playing their favourite song can make it more enjoyable.
  • Be sure not to use too much toothpaste. For children under age three, use a smear of toothpaste about the size of a grain of rice. For older children, use a pea-sized amount.
  • As soon as your child has two teeth that touch, start flossing between their teeth each day. This will keep food particles from harming their teeth. And when they’re older, teach them how to floss on their own.
  • Try to limit all-day snacking because frequent snacking feeds the harmful bacteria that produce acids. These acids can lead to tooth decay, so it’s best if your child eats at prescribed times.
  • Whenever possible, have your child drink water instead of sugary drinks. If they drink water throughout the day, it rinses away food particles and bacteria.
  • Choose tooth-friendly foods such as fruits, crunchy vegetables and cheese instead of sugary snacks.
