Dental Procedures with Prevention in Mind

Here are some of the preventive dental procedures we offer:

Regular cleans—We encourage you to arrange a dental visit every six months so we can remove plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth.

Oral cancer screenings—Our Blacktown dental clinic performs oral cancer screenings twice a year during your regular visits. Early detection is the key to combatting oral cancer.

Oral examination—Using digital x-rays, we will look for any dental issues to prevent them from worsening. We will also check your gums to ensure you don’t have periodontal disease.

Fluoride varnish—For issues with your tooth enamel, this treatment option will remineralise and strengthen your enamel.

Dental sealants—Our thin layer of specialised polymer can protect your teeth from plaque in hard-to-reach areas.

Examination – We begin each exam by discussing what you’ve noticed about your mouth and teeth, including your smile goals and complaints. Then Dr Hanna will inspect each tooth with his expert eye, noting any observations that might indicate an issue with one or more teeth. He will also focus on your gums, looking for signs of potential periodontal disease. In addition, he can note signs of oral cancer and check the health of your jaw joint, also called your TMJ or temporomandibular joint.

Diagnosis – To confirm potential problems, our dental team may take digital x-rays to look inside your teeth. This allows us to spot tooth decay and assess whether you need cavities filled to prevent further tooth damage. We also can determine your bone health, and if you need dental restorations like dental implants, we create digital impressions that are cleaner and more precise than traditional methods and can be shared with the press of a button.

Cleaning – After your exam, one of our dental hygienists will perform a clean procedure using specialized tools and skills to target and remove plaque and other accumulations on your teeth and gums. We give attention to all tooth surfaces, including the backs and between teeth. To complete your cleaning procedure, we polish your teeth, so they look and feel fresh and clean.
